ONE SESSION, ASSEMBLED FOR YOU

Less planning, more studying

Stop Deciding What to Study Every Time You Open the App

Most learners end up with a handful of study tools, and all of them are useful:

  • Flashcards
  • A textbook
  • Grammar exercises
  • Listening resources
  • Vocabulary lists

The trouble isn’t the tools. It’s the question that comes before them: what should I work on right now? Answering that takes a few minutes and a bit of willpower, every single time, before any studying happens.

Guided Study removes that decision. You choose the Study Track and the time you have. Ailelo builds the session.

That’s only possible because an AI language learning app built around your own materials already knows what you’re studying — which track you picked, what’s due, and where you stopped.

Two choices, then you’re studying

Choose the Material. Choose the Time. Start Studying.

  1. 01

    Pick What You’re Studying

Choose a language, then choose the material: a specific textbook Study Track, or your Free Study track. Because tracks stay separate, the session draws from the resource you picked instead of mixing unrelated books together.

See how to learn from your own textbook
  2. 02

Tell Ailelo How Much Time You Have

You say roughly how long you have for this session, and Ailelo uses that as the constraint when it assembles one. Studying should fit the time you actually have, rather than asking for an open-ended commitment.

  3. 03

    Follow the Session

Ailelo puts the activities together and you work through them in order. There is no separate step where you open one tool, finish, and decide which tool to open next. If something interrupts you, your progress saves and the session can be picked up later.

One session. Multiple skills.

Guided Study Brings the Parts of Ailelo Together

A session can draw from four activity types, generally in this order.

01

Review what’s due

Start With the Vocabulary That Needs You Today

A session opens with the words currently due for review on your existing spaced-repetition schedule. Nothing has to be picked out by hand — the schedule already knows which items are ready.

Explore FSRS spaced-repetition flashcards
02

Continue with new material

Pick Up New Vocabulary and Grammar From Where You Left Off

Ailelo introduces new vocabulary and grammar from your current position in the selected Study Track. You don’t have to find the next chapter or decide what should come next — the session continues from where you stopped.

03

Use it in writing

Put It Into a Short Written Response

A short prompt asks you to use the vocabulary and grammar you’ve been working with. Ailelo grades the answer as correct, partially correct, or incorrect, and explains specifically what it saw.

One component of the session, not a separate writing course.
04

Finish out loud

Close With Personalized Listen-and-Respond Audio

A session can end with an audio lesson generated from vocabulary connected to your studies: you hear a prompt, answer aloud, and then hear the correct response so you can check yourself.

Audio lessons don’t grade what you say. Recorded responses are evaluated in spoken conversation practice instead.Explore personalized audio lessons

Not another system to maintain

A Study Plan for Right Now — Not Another Schedule to Manage

Plenty of tools help you plan studying. Guided Study is aimed at a much smaller moment than that.

What it isn’t

  • A weekly calendar
  • A semester planner
  • A reminder system
  • A homework planner
  • A productivity dashboard

The only question it answers

“I have some time right now. What should I study?”

You don’t need to plan tomorrow’s study blocks or organize another productivity system. Pick your material, tell Ailelo how much time you have right now, and start.

Fit the session to the day

Ten Minutes and Forty Minutes Shouldn’t Produce the Same Study Session

How much time you have should change how much material belongs in the session in front of you. Ailelo sizes the session to the time you gave it rather than treating every session as identical.

A short window

Between classes, on a break, or before bed. A session sized for that covers less ground and still moves you forward in the same material.

A longer stretch

An evening with real time in it. There’s room for more of the track, and for more of the session’s activity types.

You set the time yourself each session. Ailelo doesn’t read your calendar or detect your schedule, and how a session is put together depends on your material and where you are in it.

Curriculum awareness

The Session Knows Where You Left Off

Ailelo isn’t assembling a generic session out of a shared library of language content. It works from the Study Track you selected, which means it can build around things a generic session has no way to know:

  • Vocabulary that’s due
  • Your current chapter
  • What comes next in that track
  • Progress you’ve already made

Guidance only becomes useful when the app understands what you’re actually studying.

That’s the difference between a session that happens to be about your language and a session that continues the book in front of you.

A concrete example

Turn Your Textbook Into Today’s Study Session

You uploaded a textbook, Ailelo organized it into a Study Track, and you’ve been working through it. Today you have a stretch of time and no interest in planning.

Free Study

Guided Study Isn’t Limited to Textbooks

Not every word worth keeping comes out of a book. Free Study is the track for vocabulary you collect yourself — from reading, class, conversation, or anywhere else.

You can select Free Study for a guided session the same way you’d select a textbook track. The principle doesn’t change: choose the track, choose the time, and let Ailelo assemble the session around that material.

Resume where you stopped

Interrupted? Pick Up Where You Left Off.

Session progress saves continuously. If something pulls you away before the end — and something usually does — the session can be resumed later instead of started over.

It matters because Guided Study is meant to fit into a real day, not a protected block of uninterrupted time you had to arrange in advance.

Before and after

Open-Ended Study vs. Guided Study

Open-ended studying gives you total freedom, which is genuinely useful — right up until the freedom is the thing standing between you and starting.

Open-ended study

You answer these first

  • Which activity should I do?
  • What vocabulary needs review?
  • Should I learn something new today?
  • How long should I spend on each part?
  • Where did I stop last time?

Ailelo Guided Study

Ailelo handles the structure

  • Due review appears automatically
  • New material continues from where you are
  • Several activity types in one session
  • The session is sized to the time you gave it
  • Progress saves, so you can resume

You still choose the Study Track and the time available. Those two decisions stay yours.

The part that actually gets skipped

Make Studying the Habit — Not Planning the Study Session

The fewer steps between deciding to study and actually studying, the more often the studying happens. Guided Study exists to shorten that gap.

“I should study.”“I’m studying.”

How it fits together

One Guided Session Connects the Ailelo System

Your selected Study Track
Guided Study
Due review
New vocabulary and grammar
Short written practice
Audio lesson

These aren’t four separate products bolted together. Each one works from the same curriculum you chose, which is what lets a single session move between them without changing subject. Ailelo’s spoken conversation practice sits outside the guided session — you open it when you want to speak — and draws on that same curriculum.

For language students

Studying for Class Without Building Another Study Plan

You already have the assigned textbook, the chapter you’re on, and less time than you’d like between classes and everything else. What you don’t need is a second planning exercise before you can review anything.

Select the textbook’s Study Track, say how long you have, and work through a session built from that material. The value is reinforcing what your course is teaching — not predicting what will be on a test.

For self-directed learners

Structure Without Giving Up Your Own Curriculum

You chose your book deliberately: its sequence, its explanations, the order it introduces grammar. Most apps that offer structure want to replace that with their own path.

Guided Study puts structure around the material you already picked, rather than in place of it.

You choose what to learn. Ailelo helps decide what to do next.

One resource. One track.

The Session Follows the Track You Choose

If you’re working through two books, or two languages, you decide which one this session is for. Selecting a track builds the session from that track’s material — different resources don’t blend together on their own.

A few things to know

Good Questions.
Clear Answers.

A closer look at learning
with your own materials.

What is Guided Study in Ailelo?

Guided Study builds a complete study session for you. You choose a language, choose the Study Track you want to work on, and say roughly how much time you have. Ailelo assembles the session from that material instead of asking you to pick activities one at a time.

How does Ailelo decide what goes into a study session?

It works from the Study Track you selected: which vocabulary is currently due for review, where you left off in that material, and what comes next. The time you said you have is used as the constraint on how much fits into the session.

Can I choose how long I want to study?

Yes. You tell Ailelo roughly how much time you have for the current session, and it sizes the session to that. You set this yourself each time — Ailelo does not read your calendar or detect your schedule.

What activities are included in Guided Study?

A session can draw from four activity types, generally in this order: flashcard review of vocabulary that is currently due, new vocabulary and grammar from where you left off, a short written exercise with AI feedback, and a personalized listen-and-respond audio lesson.

Does Guided Study use my textbook?

Yes, if you select that textbook’s Study Track. The session draws on the chapters, vocabulary, and grammar Ailelo organized from your uploaded material, so it reinforces the book you are actually studying.

Can I use Guided Study with Free Study?

Yes. Free Study is a track for vocabulary that does not belong to a particular book, and you can select it for a guided session the same way you would select a textbook track.

Does Ailelo remember where I stopped?

Yes. Your position in the selected Study Track is what a session continues from, so new material picks up where you left off rather than restarting or jumping somewhere arbitrary.

What happens if I don’t finish a session?

Session progress saves continuously, so if something interrupts you before the end, the session can be resumed later rather than started over.

Does Guided Study use spaced repetition?

Yes. The review portion of a session uses your existing FSRS spaced-repetition schedule, so the vocabulary that appears is the vocabulary already due for review in that track.

Do I have to choose each activity myself?

No. That is the point of Guided Study. You choose the track and the time; Ailelo decides which activities belong in the session and in what order, so you can start studying instead of planning.
